The Commons at Cornell College of Human Ecology, a 5700 foot student designed space connecting Human Ecology building and Martha Van Rensselaer Hall, aims to provide a large gathering venue for students, faculties, and staffs. I am looking at how people behave within different areas in the space unconsciously, and what can be improved to utilize the space more efficiently. I analyzed the commons floor plan sketch, and summarized three most popular types among those behaviors that food for thoughts redesigning the space: edge sitter, foot-on-table sitters, and food-on-side sitters.
